India, the land of festivals, is also an agricultural economy. The festivals related to the harvest season like Pongal occupy a completely different place in the hearts of those who celebrate it. In Pongal, we find not only religious meaning but also adequate reverence too. Pongal is the festival of joy and happiness that spreads happiness through the generosity of others. To glorify the life of the children in “HELPING HEARTS HOME”, the students and the faculty donated the kinds of stuff they needed on 10/01/2022. SM Volunteering team provided the items needed to make their Pongal a success. We provided rice, jaggery, sweets, and sugarcane to make the children's Pongal even more special. The main reason for this celebration is to create a sense of community among the kids. And for them to have fun! We feel nothing short of immense gratitude for sm volunteering community of donors that have helped to bring up the smile on the faces of the 32 orphan children. The children were overwhelmed by our presence and it gained a different experience. SM Volunteers team tries to continue the service to brighten up the lives of children in the orphanage.
