Seed Ball Making
There is no better feeling than to watch your plants grow and produce food for you and your family. Teaching kids to garden is as important as teaching them how to swim! It gives them time to be active and experience nature. In that light, a small token of a natural miracle in the form of seed balls is a lovely gift. Seed balls are uniquely made to be dispersed off in a bit of a controlled manner and give life to new plants. Seed balls have an 80 percent growth success rate in comparison to regular seedlings, which helps people farming in rural areas have a more consistent supply of food.
In regard to this our KSRCT SM VOLUNTEERS along with TEXTILE DEPARTMENT have joined hands together with KSRCT-NURSERY and made seed balls on 14/05/2022 from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Our students made more than 1000 balls within a day.
We made seed balls that have been wrapped in soil matter and then dried. The soil matter is often a mixture of clay and compost. The seed is, therefore, pre-planted and can be sown by depositing the seed ball anywhere as long as the species can survive there.
